Andrea Thebarge | Executive Director | U16 and U19 Head Coach
Andrea serves as the Executive Director of Maine Rapids. In this role, she oversees all coaches and programs and is involved with all aspects of the administration of the club. She also serves as the head coach of the U19 and U16 Rapids teams.
A native of Skowhegan, Maine, Andrea graduated from Northeastern University in 2000 with a bachelor's degree in Mathematics. While at Northeastern, she was a four-year starter and participated in four NCAA Division I tournaments, making it to the Final Four championship in both 1995 and 1996. She was a captain and named to the all conference 2nd team her senior year in 1998.
Andrea is currently the head field hockey coach at Thomas College and is currently in her 16th season with the Terriers. She was named Coach of the Year in 2018, 2021 and 2023. In addition to her coaching role at Thomas, she also serves as an Associate Athletic Director, Compliance Director, Budget manager as well as an adjunct professor where she teaches math and personal finance courses. Prior to Thomas, Andrea served as the Assistant Field Hockey Coach at the University of Maine from 2002-2005 and was the Interim Head Coach in 2006. From 2000-2002 she was the Head Field Hockey, Basketball and Softball Coach at Buckingham Browne and Nichols, a private high school in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Andrea has been actively involved in the United States Field Hockey Association Futures program both as a player and coach and was the Regional Coaching Director of Massachusetts from 2001-2003. In 2007 she formed her own field hockey club, the Maine Styx, which attended the National Field Hockey Festival and shortly after its formation she combined with Maine Majestix field hockey club and was the head coach for the U19 team for several years.
In December of 2009, Andrea was inducted into the Maine Field Hockey Association's Hall of Fame and was inducted in the Skowhegan Field Hockey Hall of Fame in 2010.
